Emirates Bank International
Group to strengthen its e-Banking offering
World leading electronic report,
document management & archiving system from Euro
Banking Solutions to deliver return on investment in less than
12 months
Dubai, 19 December, 2000:
Emirates Bank International Group (EBI) took
another step towards a full e-banking environment
today following an agreement with Euro Banking
Solutions (EBS) to implement the Synergy
2000 Computer Output to Laser Disc (COLD)
solution.
Synergy 2000 is the market leading
electronic information archiving system from EBS’
international partners, SER Macrosoft. By
automating and streamlining its report management
processes, EBI management and users will benefit
from instant, on-line access to all required
reports and information from across the
Group.
It also marks a major step by EBI towards a
paperless office.
“Our conservative
estimates are that the COLD system from EBS will
have paid for itself within 12 months, simply as a
result of the time savings by our users and
management in sourcing and accessing key reports
and information and, the removal of the paper
trail.”
Mr. Abdulla Qassem, Chief Manager
Information Technology, Emirates Bank Group said
today.
“We chose this COLD system because it is
among the world leaders in report archiving and
document management technology. In
addition to delivering substantial benefits in
terms of our internal processes in a short period
of time, our customers will also benefit from
faster response times and the speed at which we
can process queries. This
system allows EBI to take yet another vital step
to realising a full e-banking environment for the
future”.
According to Gartner Group, the
SER Macrosoft system is the most widely used COLD
system in the world. Currently
in use in 1,500 financial institutions worldwide,
it is capable of processing over 600,000 pages per
hour.
The initial implementation of the
integrated COLD system which includes Web Manager
and Data Mining modules, will focus on automating
the report management processes of EBI’s Head
Office Finance division and Network International,
the Banks specialist card services division. This first
phase, which is due to be completed by April 2001,
will be followed by a rollout of the system across
all Departments in the EBI Group. EBS will
manage all aspects of the implementation, testing
and rollout and, will continue to provide full
local support to the EBI COLD system, through its
specialist support team.
According to Mr. Naushad
Kermalli, Group Systems Development Manager, EBI:
“The implementation of the COLD system from EBS is
a key step toward fully automating the
non-structured data within the EBI Group and
delivering the benefits of a fully electronic
document management and workflow system. Once
tested and proven, we plan to role the system out
throughout the EBI Group, extending the benefits
of more efficient business processes throughout
our entire institution.”
Keith Blankley, Managing
Director, Euro Banking Solutions added: “EBS is
proud to be associated with EBI in this important
project.
As leaders in providing and supporting
electronic document management systems to the
Banking and Financials sectors here in the region,
we appreciate EBI’s move to adopt the leading
technologies. We look
forward to working with the EBI management team
and to helping them exploit the full potential of
the COLD system into the future.”
